Wisdom Teeth

I sure did wait until I was 27, married with a 3 year old, and working full time to decide to get my wisdom teeth out.
Smart right?
I look back at 16 and think, holy hell I should have done this then!

Friday I went to see Dr. Whitaker, super nice guy, to get my wisdom teeth out.
It went exactly as he had said it would, he'd put me out, it'd seem like 5 minutes and I would wake up feeling drunk/stoned.
Yep, that's exactly how I felt.
The surprising thing was how quickly that wore off, leaving me just ridiculous amounts of numb.

Mom and I were waiting at Walgreens across from the hospital for my prescriptions to be ready when out of nowhere, she turns to me and says "Oh my god, you have blood all over your mouth"
So, since I was all F*ck it, I just got teeth pulled, b*tches!, I decided that before removing gross amounts of blood from my lips and teeth, I would take a picture...

Rocking it Little Monster style

Yep, don't be jealous of that sexiness.
After getting my prescriptions I insisted on stopping by Mojoe's for coffee and a frappe.
For some reason I remember Brad and Isaac laughing hysterically at me, but I don't remember why.
Probably just because I was swollen, lisping, bleeding, more than likely not making much sense and still in for my coffee.
That's love.

My Mommy babysat me that day.
We watched Lady Gaga videos and I napped on the porch.
It was fantastic.
Having 3 teeth pulled wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

Saturday Rupert and I laid around until noonish and then Reese came over.
We ended up going down to Mojoes and then picked up Susan.
We all went back to my place and watched The Rite (super good btw)
I was swollen and uncomfortable but not too bad!

Sunday was going to be a nice quiet day to hang out as a family, especially since I was feeling OK.
Recovery is going well, maybe after Chris mows the yard we will go up to Julie's house and relax on the lake... the proper way to spend Memorial Day Weekend.

But when I got out of bed I discovered this...

Marlon Brando had eaten my body during the night!
And it HURT!!!

So our relaxing Sunday turned into an uber-relaxed Sunday.
I napped for four hours on and off of ice packs, took all my meds, got a stomach ache, woke up long enough to eat dinner and snuggle with Ru and then go back to bed.
Blarg.

Monday, Memorial Day, I had plans to have lunch with Polly and get my eyelashes done.
Come hell or high water, that was going to happen.
Before I left though, I decided it was time to give Ru's hair a trim and after a 20 minute ORDEAL, I filled up the baby pool with water so he could play (his reward for attempting to sit still and not scream)
As I am walking out the door, I look over and see this...

That's Rupert on his tractor, naked, in his kiddie pool.
I so love my child!

So I persevered through what seemed like too much pain (considering I was on hydrocodone) and we had a blast!
But by the time I got home, I was in a foul mood bc of the pain.
Then I saw my tire was flat.
That made my mood even better.
But we went to Mom and Dad's anyway and I called the surgeon who told me to use Oil of Clove to numb the dry socket that I now had.
No one sells oil of clove, so I finally settled on a toothache kit from the red cross or First Aid or something.
Well, holy hell, the liquid in that container tastes just like clove!
And it had the little cotton balls and tweezers, so I got to pack myself right there in the kitchen and start moving on with my evening!

Good thing too because Tony had smoked two chickens and a rack of ribs, not to mention all the sides and everyone was there.
I would have hated to miss it.

After dinner we all went out to the driveway, the only place with shade, and played a few games of corn hole.
I even opened up the back of my car and folded down the speakers so we could all listen to Sly & The Family Stone, The Blues Brothers and Aretha Franklin (some things will never change :) )

And I got a few pics of Rupert in his Steve Urkel shorts!
Ok, it was totally my doing.
His pants kept falling down and as he was running by I just yanked his pants up, hoping that they would stay.
Well they were WAY UP, so laughter and pictures ensued.
My poor little man.

This is my favorite!
He looks like he's attempting ballet or river dance in Urkel shorts.
Ha!

Anyway, I am feeling kind of better now.
I saw the surgeon this morning and he gave me some gel stuff and I am also getting a refill of pain meds.
I taste like a Christmas Ham with all this clove in my mouth!
I go back Thursday to have my stitches taken out, that should be a blast.

My mouth hurts just thinking about it.

My sockets are almost completely closed now, so by the end of this week, the saga should be over.... thank god.
